Provincial Income Support Programs

Income support:

Alberta Seniors Benefit provides a monthly income supplement to federal income sources to eligible Alberta seniors. In general, for July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, a single senior with an annual income of $28,150 or less, and senior couples with a combined annual income of $45,720 or less, are eligible for a cash benefit.

Financial supports for house and home:

Seniors Home Adaptation and Repair Program is a low interest home equity loan program to help seniors finance repairs, adaptations and renovations to their homes.

Seniors Property Tax Deferral allows eligible senior homeowners to defer all or part of their annual residential property taxes through a low-interest home equity loan. There is no income threshold for this program.

Financial supports for your health and well-being:

Special Needs Assistance for Seniors provides a lump-sum payment to assist eligible seniors with the cost of appliances and specific health and personal supports. In general, a single senior with a total annual income of $28,150 or less, or a senior couple with a total combined annual income of $45,720 or less, may be eligible to receive assistance.

Dental and Optical Assistance for Seniors provides basic dental coverage and optical assistance to a set amount, based on your total annual income. In general, single senior with a total annual income of $31,675 or less, or a senior couple with a total combined annual income of $63,350 or less, may be eligible.
