The Government of Alberta maintains an online subsidized housing directory. There are a number of programs and services to make housing more affordable for eligible seniors.

The Alberta Seniors Communities and Housing Association (ASCHA) maintains an online housing directory to search for different types of accommodation.

The Kerby Centre maintains a Housing Directory for seniors looking for housing in the Calgary area.

Sage provides housing information for seniors looking for housing in the Edmonton area.

Supports to maintain your home

The Government of Alberta's Seniors Home Adaptation and Repair Program (SHARP) provides low-interest home equity loans to help seniors finance necessary repairs, adaptations and renovations to their homes.

Alberta 211 (dial 2-1-1) can help seniors find contractors for home maintenance tasks (e.g., snow shovelling, lawn care, repairs). Contractors charge a fee.

The Utilities Consumer Advocate provides information and support to consumers about home electricity and natural gas concerns and questions.

Government defines aging in place as having the health and social supports and services you need to live safely and independently in your home or your community. There are a number of resources available to help you plan for and age in place.
